LIVE LIFE IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

It’s Saturday morning, the one morning in the week I can usually sleep as late as I want. Let’s just say it is 6:20 AM and I’ve been up for an hour with this message bubbling inside. I am excited to share these principles that help us understand the a much higher way of living. How we react to those things our flesh doesn’t appreciate is often a matter of life and death, especially concerning relationships and offending others we love.
Like the old chorus says,
“If we walk in the Spirit of the Spirit we reap life. If we walk in the flesh we reap sorrow. “

Our flesh and our spirit are in a constant battle. My spirit really doesn’t care about the following but my flesh really doesn’t appreciate
  • Waking up earlier than I want to.
  • Being the slightest bit hungry
  • Being sweaty
  • Fatigue
  • Self control
  • Getting picked on,
  • Being bullied or put down
  • A full bladder or rectal pressure
  • Pain of any kind
  • Physical or emotional injury
  • People who complain too much
  • NOT GETTING IT’S OWN WAY

 …and your probably doesn’t either.

I believe way to many who consider themselves to be Christians have far too little understanding of the Holy Spirit. HE is experienced far more than what can be taught. The old expression is completely true, “It’s better felt than telt.”

WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS
THERE IS FREEDOM
Walking in the Spirit is not something unique to Pentecostals, Charismatic’s, Holy Rollers, or whatever else people call people like me. In the Charismatic Move in the 1970s blew away many of the divisions within Christendom. I am so thankful that the Lord moved in such a way as to get the church to repent of their ostracism of each other. Pentecostals are no longer “those crazy people on the wrong side of the tracks.” The commands of the following Scriptures are for all believers and bring us all, no matter what the title is on the sign outside the building, into the realm of the Spirit of the Lord,
2 Corinthians 3:17   Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Please take some time to meditate on the verses that follow. Roll them over in your mind and heart. It is my prayer that as you read the following verses that the Lord will touch your heart. We need to constantly yield to the Spirit of the Lord in order to walk in the liberty that results from obedience to the Lord. We need more than the wonderful indwelling of the Spirit received at Salvation, we need the promised Baptism of the Holy Spirit so that we receive the power to become living witnesses of Jesus in all the world and in all circumstances.

All verses are New King James Version
John 4:23    But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

John 4:24    God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Philippians 3:3    For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,

Galatians 5:16     I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Ezekiel 36:27    I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

Acts 9:31   Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.

Romans 8:1    There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

Romans 8:4   that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Galatians 5:16     I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Galatians 5:25    If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:1    And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
2   in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
3    among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

Acts 1:8   But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 2:4   And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Gal. 5:16    I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
17    For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19    Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20    idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21    envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23    gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24    And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25    If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
